For the second round, I actually call the pick before it's made, and it was Arizona high schooler Alex Verdugo. The only thing is, he was drafted as an outfielder and not a left-handed pitcher. That was a surprise.

Wow, for the Dodgers to have Holmes fall into their lap like that...UN-REAL. I didn't think he'd last past the first 15 picks because he was one of the Top 3 prep arms in the nation (IMHO). Pair him up with Mexican southpaw phenom Urias in the near future and you have the makings of a potential 1-2 punch in the starting rotation for the Dodgers when all's said and done. I'm liking the Verdugo pick as well, though I'm equally surprised as you that he was taken as an OF instead. His stuff on the mound is just too good to pass up, especially his breaking pitches. Still, if his bat does indeed show any promise as Logan White seems to think...might as well give him a shot to stick as an everyday player in the meantime. I say Verdugo eventually moves back to the mound after the hitting "experiment" finally runs its course. Overall, the draft was not as deep for the Dodgers as in years past but I feel landing those two kids in particular more than makes up for it.
